KXIP and MI face each other at a time when both the teams are staring down the barrel. One more loss and it becomes infinitely difficult to try and get into the play-off places. KXIP and MI have both been consistently inconsistent and this is the do-or-die game for them.
KXIP have a worrying form going on right now. It seems they were top of the table just a week ago but their slide in form has given MI a great chance to push them down the slope even more and they are more than capable of doing it. MI’s resurgence was contrasting but here we are.
MI lost their last game to Rajasthan, Punjab to RCB. Punjab was humiliated by RCB and MI were chased down by RR. Both the teams need to show some grit and heart and prove to the fans that they indeed play for the badge.
There will be some really interesting team selections. Mumbai before their loss to RR had won 3 games on the trot. KXIP have been a mixed bag and the humiliation might prompt them to make changes to their side.
MI: Even though MI can be disappointed with their last loss given the form the side had shown before that makes us believe that there will be no changes.
KXIP: it could either be Mujeeb if he turns outfit or Marcus Stoinis.
MI: Evin Lewis, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma (c), Hardik Pandya, JP Duminy, Ishan Kishan(wk), Krunal Pandya, Ben Cutting, Mitchell McClenaghan, Mayank Markande, Jasprit Bumrah
KXIP: Lokesh Rahul (wk), Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, Aaron Finch, Marcus Stoinis/Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin (c), Andrew Tye, Mohit Sharma/Barinder Sran, Ankit Rajpoot.
MI: Evan Lewis will look to carry on his good form from the last game and will look to give Mumbai a good start.
Hardik Pandya will have to contribute in both areas when asked for.
KXIP: It looks like the two names remaining constant here. The best bowler in the league this season, Tye and Rahul the sensation both will have to play well for Punjab to win.
Wicket-keeper: Lokesh Rahul has been better than Ishan Kishan.
Top Order: Evan Lewis, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma, Chris Gayle are the best picks.
All Rounders: Hardik Pandya, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Krunal are our choices.
Bowlers: Ankit Rajpoot, Jasprit Bumrah, and Andrew Tye will look to bring the goods on the field tomorrow.
